DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler is recalling about 832,500 Jeep Liberty sport utility vehicles to fix a steering part.
The front suspension lower ball joints on 2002 to 2006 Liberty SUVs will be replaced, the automaker said in a statement. The part can experience excessive wear and in extreme cases may separate, causing a loss of steering control, Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Chrysler said.

06-16-06, riding in a 2003 jeep liberty, with 3 others...clear conditions, going speed limit in the slow lane...tire tread in our lane, no one in fast lane, so we change lanes end up loosing control...fishtailed back & forth, roll 4 times, hit guardrail, rear wheel falls off, end up right side up facing on coming traffic...only to be struck head on by a 18 wheeler truck who was behind us originally in the slow lane(his skid marks where 410 feet) ...along with another 18 wheeler and a sedan, who both had good response time to slow down, remained in the slow lane and stop...one of us was partially ejected and did not survive...though she did not suffer. The remaining 3 where sent to a hospital 30 minutes away.Driver hospitalized for 2 days(cuts & reoccurred back ache), Front passanger 4 days(rod in leg from hip to knee), & rear right passanger 8 days (stint placed in main artery of arm of broke shoulder, torn ACL,torn meniscus, multiple ligaments torn & femur bone broke in several places, same leg...It is a blessing 3 of us are still here. Another accident at the hands of Jeep Liberty(RECALL)....How much play is in your steering wheel!!!!
